AVERITT

Averitt is one of the nation’s leading freight transportation and supply chain management providers. We offer a full complement of transportation services including less-than-truckload, expedited, dedicated, logisitics and international services. At Averitt, the vision is “To Be the Best…The Carrier of Choice.” In October of 1971, Gary Sasser, at the age of 21, purchased Averitt, which at the time consisted of two associates, three tractors, and five trailers. Today, Averitt is still privately owned and operates a fleet of over 3,000 tractors, 9,000 trailers and over 100 service centers. Our company headquarters are located in Cookeville, TN which is about an hour east of Nashville. Drivers joining the Averitt family will begin their careers in truckload. The diversity of our fleet opportunities means that Averitt could be your first driving job as well as the company from which you retire.

Our primary freight lanes are in the Southeast and Midwest. Averitt is a short to medium haul carrier with limited touch freight. Our truckload business consists of nearly 70% automotive freight. Every driver has an assigned fleet manager and we are a forced dispatch system with computer assigned dispatches . We utilize the Quall Com Satellite tracking and communications system. Driver support is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

The Averitt truckload business currently operates over 1200 tractors. Our late model equipment is 3 years old or newer. We primarily run Volvo 670 conventional tractors powered by Cummins N14 multi-torque 370/435 hp engines. While the Volvo is our primary tractor, we do have some Peterbuilts and Freightliners in the fleet. The tractors’ standard options include regular 10 speed (straight 10) transmissions with Jake Brakes, Air Ride suspensions, anti-lock brakes, and CB hookups.

Your commitment to the training cost is $1,095, paid at the end of your first year of employment with the company.
