Information About CDL Training & Truck Driving Careers

Demand for Truckers at an All Time High
If you’re considering a career change, a trucking career is the best way to find a new job that will reward you both professionally and financially for many years to come, according to a recent survey conducted by the American Transportation Research Institute (ATRI).

The association contacted more then 2,000 carriers and asked them what their main concerns were about the future of the industry. Forty-three percent ranked “Driver Shortage” as their main issue. In short, this is nothing but good news for someone looking to begin a trucking career.

Drivers Wanted Across the U.S.
From Washington to Maine, California to the Carolinas, the trucking companies have more open routes than ever before.

Why? Not only is the current pool of trucking professionals aging, but the traditional pools for getting new drivers (i.e. the military) aren’t as prolific as they once were. Couple that with a lack of drivers who are properly trained from the private marketplace, and it’s easy to see how this all occurred.

Imports into U.S. Growing: Deliveries, Routes Increase in Turn
With the U.S. Trade Deficit at an all-time high, the number of imported goods coming into this country has also reached epic proportions. These imported goods include clothing, steel and other cheap imports from China, as well as those coming from our southern and northern neighbors here in North America.

The spike in imports means our nation’s ports are busier than ever, and that our nation’s rail and trucking companies are busier than ever, too. With future traded goods only projected to rise, it’s certain that our nation’s trucking companies will be called on to step up and move these products from point A to point B—and earn a premium for doing so.

The Industry Wants You to Start Your Trucking Career Now!
It’s never been easier to find a new job in trucking, and carrier companies are willing to offer premiums to new drivers. In the ATRI study, 92 percent of respondents cited “Increase Driver Compensation/Wages” as the number one way to attract new truckers who are looking for a rewarding career change.

Tied for second place was, “Improve Driver Training to Improve the Driver Pool.” In short, companies like Driver Solutions will be relied upon more heavily as the go-to company for providing top-quality CDL training that allows graduates to “hit the road running” and begin filling these high-paying jobs sooner rather than later.

With industry demand at an all-time high and available drivers at an all-time low, it’s clear that those who want to find a new job with a trucking career have great options for many years to come.
